4.1 Prioritize the Mobilization of Prayer for the Unreached

4.1 Prioritize the Mobilization of Prayer for the Unreached

I just wanted to stop and remind us of how strategic it is to mobilize prayer. Samuel Zwemer was an amazing missionary to the Muslim world and missions mobilizer and he said it this way, "the history of missions is the history of answer prayer". Isn't that great? The history of missions is the history of answered prayer. I love the fact that when the disciples were hanging out with Jesus, the thing they asked him to teach them was, teach us to pray. And one facet of the prayer that Jesus taught them was "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."  And this really, kind of reveals the delegated authority we have been given to partner with God to see his Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. So when we mobilize people to prayer we are inviting them to step into their roles, step into that delegated authority to exercise it, to step up as ambassadors of the Kingdom of God. I love that!

I love also that mobilizing prayer allows everybody to participate in the Great Commission. It removes the geographical limitations so anybody anywhere can through prayer change the uttermost parts of the earth as they pray "Thy kingdom come ,Thy will be done on earth". Mobilizing prayer also engages this principle of "where your treasure is there your heart will be also." You've heard that; where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

And so as people are investing precious time into that prayer project, their heart connects with where their treasure is. They gain more ownership of it. They end up being the answer to their own prayers, in many cases. So, if I had to choose between mobilizing people, mobilizing finances, or mobilizing prayer, I think I would definitely choose mobilizing prayer because God is the one who then responds and works in people's hearts so that we have all the time, talent, and treasure invested to be able to complete the great commission. So, let's not neglect the priority of mobilizing prayer in our missions mobilization efforts.
